Why did you buy the clothes you currently wear? Why do you live in the apartment you currently live at? Why do you have that circle of friends? Why do you want to buy that car, bag or watch?

Good questions, right? I’m asking you this so that you can get conscious about your decisions that are creating your lifestyle which may hold you back from living your dream life.

What’s your dream life? That’s a different questions I’ll elaborate on this in a different post or that we can work together from a position of gratitude & grace on it, however, it’s key to understand why you’re not achieving it.

The normal path for our society is to go to university and get a job. After several years into their career many people realise that they’d prefer to do something else for their lives. However, most people won’t pivot and actually try to pursue their dream lives they actually deserve. Why?

Well, there are many reasons. But a key reason is that people build up a lifestyle for which they’ll need thousands of Euros, Dollars etc. in order to sustain it while not having the humility to go backwards and switch to a smaller apartment or not having a car. But how do they get there?

As we’re living in a materialistic society, we get seduced by offers all the time while also having in mind what our environment and friends are doing. If you let these forces indulge you into building such a lifestyle, it’ll become more and more difficult to actually pursue your dreams at some point.

The consequence is that after working in a job which doesn’t fulfil you, it seems impossible to achieve an income of several thousands from your new dream job in order to pay for your lifestyle. If you’re able to consciously chose your lifestyle in your 20s, the entry barrier for pivoting into your dream life is much lower.

Let me give you my personal example of my dream job and my lifestyle. Yes, I traveled a lot, I have nice things. But in the beginning of this 2020 I moved back home and cut my expenses tremendously, only needing 500$ a month to sustain my lifestyle. Since moving out this rose to roughly 1100$.

Earning 1100$ a month with my “new job” which is my dream, feels totally achievable, hence, my barrier of pivoting into my dream job was low. I could achieve 1100$ by for example selling 10 online courses and having 10 coaching sessions a month. That’s realistic for any of us right? That’s gives us then certainty which will produce a higher potential leading to more actions and results. I know from other youngsters in their 20 that need more than 2500$ in order to live a comfortable life. This difference and simple mathematics will certainly hold them back as earning this money with your hobby will feel unachievable.

And the end it’s all about self-esteem and humility. Having these two attitudes will set you free to pursue your dream life and change your lifestyle to a better standard than you’d have if you continue working in a 9-5 job!

What’s something that you could cut from your bills in order to keep your lifestyle and barrier towards your dream life low? Going out for dinner? The drinks in the club? Your car? New clothes? Identify them & think purposely into a greater future!
